  • Autism spectrum- Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that involves persistent challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors.
  • Intellectual disability- This involves impairment in cognitive functioning of an individual. 


Myths and Facts

Myth- A child with mental health problems is damaged for life as his/her life is never going to function like other normal individuals.

Fact- A child with mental health problems does not mean that he/she has no potential for future happiness and fulfillment. Early diagnosis of a child’s struggle can help him in figuring out his symptoms and accordingly is able to learn to manage things for future reference and developing in a healthy adult.

Myth- Therapy for such children are a waste of time as it brings out no solution and improvement in child.

Fact- Although therapies are long term commitments but if followed such commitment, it can help a child to make his/her life potentially and independently healthy. Myth- If a child is suffering from mental issues, it means that their parents are applying bad parenting strategies
