One of the most important relationships in our lives is our relationship with our self. In the hubbub of our daily lives, we often feel overwhelmed and somewhat out of tune with our bodies, our surroundings, our wishes, and our dreams. Are we taking care of ourselves? Are we happy? At the very core of self-care is self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-compassion.

While we often view self-care through the lens of our physical health, self-care as a concept deals with 8 different areas encompassing our physical, psychological, emotional, environmental, social, spiritual, professional and financial well-being. In essence, self-care involves engaging in activities that help lift our sprits and rejuvenate our mind and body. Self-care starts with the body. We spend a lifetime living in our bodies, and yet very often we turn a deaf ear to what our bodies are trying to tell us. “Self-Care means really listening to your body, taking moments to check in, intentionally tuning in to the thoughts going on in your mind, and challenging your behaviours and belief systems if things feel out of alignment in your life”. - Kelsey Patel.

It is important to find out what makes you feel happy and more centred, and then actively think about how we can incorporate such activities into our daily lives. Check out few important ways of taking care of your physical health:
